gastropod

A marine, freshwater, or terrestrial invertebrate animal belonging to the Class Gastropoda of the Phylum Mollusca, and characterized by a single, coiled shell, a muscular foot for gliding, and internal asymmetry caused by an embryonic process (torsion). Gastropods include snails and slugs.
